In 2015, Gwendolyn Terry was commissioned by contemporary dancer Ayako Kato to create a mask for her performance in Tatsu Aoki’s Tsukasa Taiko Reduction at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.
Gwendolyn based her work on the mournful character of Nue from traditional Japanese folklore.
